Usually on the low end. I was working with a tight budget this Christmas and wanted to buy a tuner/amplifier and a 5-CD player.
It is a bit clunky and noisy when changing disks, but the sound is good and that's all I'm concerned about. When I showed up at the local Best Buy they were sold out on the Pioneer VSX-819 tuner I wanted (even though I had called before to make sure they had it in stock), so I came back home and logged on Amazon.
Was considering a Sony for the CD player, but the reviews were rather dismal. So I'm back with a TEAC after all.
I've always had TEAC CD players. No matter the brand or price, CD players tend to self-destruct after a few years, and it is usually cheaper to buy a new one than to have it repaired.
Their price was much lower on the tuner, which in turn allowed me to buy a better CD player model.
a cassette player and a four-track portastudio whose rubber belts and wheels dissolved into a black goop after a few years. I had some bad luck with other Teac products in the past: i.e. It would have been nice to have the shuffle mode shuffle through all five discs instead of only one-at-a-time. Had this CD player for about 3 months now and its working flawlessly. It plays all the copied CDs I have, which some other players would not. The player does everything it should.
Out of the box, unplugged the old unit, plugged in the new, and we were up and running with no problems. I was forewarned about not being able to power on and off and the lack of disc shuffle.
Good product, great price. Better sound than before (probably because the old one was beginning to do weird things).
Because of the location, the need to push the power button isn't really an issue for us, nor is the disc shuffle. Through my research I was aware of how few of these machines are available now and glad that we could add it into the old system.
We purchased the TEAC PD-D2610 5-CD Carousel to replace our failing carousel that was part of our 19-year-old Sony system. We have had it about six weeks, used it heavily during holiday season.
I'm glad to be able to play CD's that I burn on my computer, which I couldn't before.
The 5-CD turntable would not turn to load CDs. The item was confirmed as DOA and back in the box with return shipping label within an hour. It was Dead On Arrival. No CD would play :-(However, I just love the Amazon return policy.
Perfect condition. The CD Carousel was supposed to be out of stock and not shipped until January 2010, but I received within 7-10 days of order. Great sound.
